Compassion Day 2009
Compassion Day 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of Australian Christian radio and Compassion working together for Compassion Day. A total of 5384 children around the world have been sponsored through this event over the last 10 years, 65 of whom were sponsored on the very first Compassion Day in 1999. Thank you for your tireless efforts in releasing so many children from poverty around the world.

This year’s focus: Ethiopia and Bangladesh
The current global food crisis is running through the developing world like a “silent tsunami”, forcing millions more people into extreme poverty. Ethiopia and Bangladesh have been two of the hardest hit nations. In Ethiopia, it is estimated that 4.5 million people need emergency food assistance, while in Bangladesh 95 per cent of Compassion assisted children have been affected by the crisis.
