Rhema Orange’s broadcast quality
Over the next several months, we will be working to improve our broadcast quality, reliability and range.
We’re pleased to be able to announce that our broadcast quality has already been enhanced due to the installation of a much better compressor/expander and the upgrade of our transmitter, thanks to David and Warwick at Fordray.
The next improvements will be an upgrade to a much newer and higher capacity server for music and program storage and the replacement of our audio automation and scheduling software. Our current software is obsolete, and though it has served us well over the years, it is causing particular problems with the loading of programs supplied in MP3 format and random corruptions of our schedule. Programs loaded from MP3 format end up with distortions and artefacts (pops and other noises). The changeover to a new system will take a considerable amount of time. We still have to decide on the software package and will need to upgrade a number of our computers. All our volunteers will have to be trained to use the new software, and we will have to convert and reclassify our entire music database.
We also hope to have a new antenna installed in the near future, which will improve our signal penetration into Orange. We understand that reception black spots do exist, and hope that the upgrade will solve these issues.
Thank you for your patience and support of Rhema FM. Without your support and prayers, we would not be able to continue this ministry. Please pray for us that we would make the correct decisions on the upgrades.
